Sameer Taneja
Sameer Taneja is the Executive Chef at Benares, London’s Michelin-starred Indian restaurant in Mayfair. With over 20 years of experience and classical training in French and Indian cuisine, he expertly combines the finest British ingredients with authentic Indian spices and techniques.
Under Sameer’s leadership, Benares has retained its Michelin star for five consecutive years. His career highlights include working with legendary chefs such as Michel and Alain Roux, Pierre Koffmann, and Pascal Proyart. He has also showcased his talents at prestigious events, including the St. Moritz Gourmet Food Festival and the official birthday of Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II.
Originally from Delhi, Sameer honed his craft in India before moving to the UK in 2003. Following his tenure as Head Chef at Benares (2012-2015) and the success of his own venture, Talli Joe, he returned as Executive Chef in 2019. Now based in London with his wife and two children, he continues to push the boundaries of modern Indian cuisine, drawing inspiration from both his heritage and his vibrant surroundings.
