The Salon Culinaire 2024 Best in Class winners enjoy an Italian adventure

VeniceEvery year at the prestigious chef competition International Salon Culinaire, the top chef or chef team in various competition categories are honoured with ‘Best in Class’ by the panel of expert judges.

This year’s Live Theatre ‘Best in Class’ winners received the exciting opportunity from UNOX, one of the event’s exclusive equipment partners, to venture on an all-expenses-paid trip to Italy, which included getting the chance to experience the enchanting city of Venice and an opportunity to explore neighbouring and home to UNOX HQ, Padova.

The tour of Venice kicked-off with the chefs taking a water taxi from the airport to the famous Piazza San Marco followed by some free time to explore, before reconvening for a delicious lunch and a glass (or three) of wine at the restaurant Nevodi. The group then headed to Padova for a quick turnaround straight into dinner at Da Pino that are infamous for their metre long pizzas!

Unox HQDay two of the visit gave the chefs the chance to explore the UNOX head office in Padova, where the company’s extensive range of professional catering ovens is manufactured. Along with a chance to explore their factories, the chefs were also introduced to some of their newest ovens and products through an engaging demonstration with Corporate Chef Claudio Novello.  A stand out product for the chefs was the Evereo ® line - the first ever Hot Fridge that is able to preserve cooked food at service temperature for days using precisely accurate temperature and atmospheric control.

For the final evening in Italy, the group headed to the iconic Caffé Pedrocchi, the oldest and most famous café in Padova, for a delicious three course dinner which was of course finished off by tasting their famous mint coffee.

The trip ended on day 3 with a walking tour of historic Padova, which included famous sites such as the University of Padua, the unfinished Padua Cathedral and the torre dell’Orologio – a  historical clock tower in one of the central piazzas. Finally, the Ragione Palace which contained the bustling food markets of Padova and saw the chefs tasting all sorts of different flavours before heading back to the UK.

Salon WinnersAmy Spargo, Marketing Manager for International Salon Culinaire, added: “Thanks to UNOX for yet another fantastic trip celebrating our Salon Best in Class Live Theatre winners and showing us the amazing sights, sounds (and of course tastes) of Venice and Padua!"

Rob Edwards, Public Sector Marketing Development Specialist at UNOX UK, concluded by saying: “Our third journey with the Salon Culinaire winners was a celebration of culinary artistry and technological innovation. It was a pleasure to spend a few days with these talented chefs, where we introduced them to our cutting-edge Evereo® line and Digital.ID operating system. They had the opportunity to see what makes UNOX unique, with tours of our production sites to witness the craftsmanship behind our ovens, while also exploring the rich history and beauty of our region.

"Together, we experienced the perfect balance of tradition and innovation. We hope the insights gained will inspire their continued success…with our products in their kitchens!
