Oatly expands barista range with new organic and lighter taste oat drinks

Oatly has expanded its popular Barista Edition range with two exciting new products: an organic alternative and a lighter version of its barista-style oat drink. These launches address growing consumer demand for organic options and products tailored to varied coffee roasts.

The new Oatly Barista Organic oat drink is made with organic oats, water, organic rapeseed oil, sea salt, and potassium carbonate. Designed to meet the increasing demand for organic options, it offers the same high performance and taste the brand is known for, while supporting Oatly’s commitment to sustainability. “Since launching Oatly’s iconic Barista Edition, we’ve received strong interest from baristas, partners and customers alike to expand the range and offer an organic option,” said Bryan Carroll, UK & Ireland GM. The product is now available at Tesco, Sainsbury’s, and selected independent retailers.

Meanwhile, Oatly’s new Barista Edition Lighter Taste is a reduced-fat version of the original Barista Edition, with 2.1% fat compared to the original 3%. The lighter feel also comes from its thinner consistency and more neutral oat flavour, designed to complement the nuanced profiles of lightly roasted coffee beans increasingly favoured by high-end cafes. Initially trialled in select coffee shops across Europe, the product has now launched in the UK with updated packaging and a new name.

Oatly highlights that the Barista Edition Lighter Taste is versatile, working well not only in coffee but also in tea, cereals, baking, and other hot drinks. Like the rest of the Barista range, it is fortified with vitamins and minerals and contains an acidity regulator to prevent curdling.

With organic options making up 10% of plant-based milk alternative sales and a significant gap in organic products within the barista segment, Oatly is positioning itself to further dominate this growing category. Currently, Oatly Barista Edition is the top-selling dairy alternative in the barista segment, selling twice as much as its nearest competitor.
