HRC Hospitality Insights: Thomas Evans, Hintlesham Golf Club
In the latest in HRC's Hospitality Insights series, Thomas Evans, General Manager at Hintlesham Golf Club, discusses low & no, sourcing British products and the importance of meeting suppliers face-to-face.
Tell us a bit about your business and your role
I am currently General Manager at Hintlesham Golf Club. We are a family run golf club nestled in the Suffolk countryside. I oversee the running of the clubhouse, kitchen, events, functions and pro-shop.
Why are you planning to attend HRC this year?
To see any new trends and meet with potential new suppliers.
How do you approach sourcing new products for your business?
We like to source local if possible and meet with suppliers face-to-face. We are also proud to source British products and produce whenever possible, supporting the local and national economy.
What do you think are some of the major trends we’ll see this year in the hospitality sector?
I think we will see the continued rise of 0% and low ABV alcohol products. There will also be a switch to more luxury high ticket price items. People will rather purchase one luxury glass of wine and make it last rather than a bottle of a cheaper variety.
What do you love most about working in the hospitality industry?
The people. I love meeting new people, whether that be guests or team members.
