In the latest in HRC's Hospitality Insights series, Stephen Bryan, General Manager of Brickendon Grange Golf Club, discussing transitioning into hosting major events, increasing use of technology and stepping out of your comfort zone.
Tell us a bit about your business and your role
I am the General Manager of Brickendon Grange Golf Club. Initial a well established private members golf club. Five years ago we invested £1.3M in clubhouse upgrades with the addition of a 132 sit down meal cover Hospitality events suite.
Why are you planning to attend HRC this year?
We are looking to find an events booking system to suit our needs and move away from the old fashioned paper events boards. Also to keep a good look at all that is new in hospitality.
How do you approach sourcing new products for your business?
The challenge for us has been moving into a new sector. We always had a bar and catering facility, but now we host major events. So being out of our natural comfort zone we thought we should take a look at what the industry leaders are doing.
What do you think are some of the major trends we’ll see this year in the hospitality sector?
Increased technology.
What do you love most about working in the hospitality industry?
I love interacting with customers, doing a good job, developing staff, and pleasing people.
