Harp Design on the design for the Vision Stage at HRC 2024
Each year HRC partners with an innovative hospitality design studio to create a unique look and feel for the show's Vision Stage. This year, and for the second year running, Harp Design led by Founder Hayley Roy will be bringing the stage to life.
HRC catches up with Hayley to learn more about the inspiration behind this year's design and some of the sustainability efforts happening behind the scenes.
Welcome back to HRC! What was behind the decision to return as design partner for 2024?
We love HRC, we love the organisers and the team, they are so helpful and inspiring! We really enjoy designing the stage every year.
How would you describe this year’s design, and what inspired it?
The design for the stage is focused on hotel bedroom design, we wanted to create a calm tranquil feeling. We also wanted to bring in some of the latest fabric fashion to the stage by using some 80s inspired fabrics.
What supplier partners have you worked with for this year’s design?
Lightique, Dulux, Philip Cowan, Oasis, Carlick, Symphony, FDM, Formica, Space, Vescom, Gs Contracts, Calderdale, Lindhurst Group, Clarke & Clarke, Karndean Flooring and ILIV Fabrics.
How is sustainability incorporated into this year’s design?
We are a massive fan of architectural film and it’s place in hotel refurbishment.
We therefore have teamed up with Space Architectural Film to supply some of the panels on the back of the stage. Architectural film can be used to refurbish furniture to prevent or delay items in hotel bedrooms including furniture and doors going into landfill. We are super excited about this product.
We have recycled the sofa as this was used on last years stage, it’s had a reupholster and we have incorporated the chair from last year as it was such a hit!! We feel we have built these in but created a completely different feel this year.
Are there any recent Harp Design projects that you’d like to shout about?
The Noodle Bar in Colchester, Southwell Racecourse (In Progress), Dukes in St Osyth, Wivenhoe House Hotel.
What will you be looking to discuss with visitors to HRC this year?
We are looking forward to meeting people to discuss their up and coming projects in commercial interiors, we’d love to talk to any hotels looking for a refurbishment or newbuilds.
